​SARS-CoV-2 is the third highly pathogenic and transmissible coronavirus emerged in this century, after SARS-CoV (2003) and MERS-CoV (2011). SARS-CoV-2 appeared just over two years ago and its expansion quickly reached global pandemic proportions. Therefore, the BIOMICs UPV/EHU research group of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU in the last 2 years has intensely worked in the search for genetic markers related to both susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and the severity of the COVID-19 disease. To this end, amplification panels have been designed for 30 different markers and a SNaPShot analysis protocol has been developed for sequencing.
